The only RIP movie I watched was one I hadn't seen in nearly 50 years and it was just as disturbing as I remember.
Good list. Funny, I watched The Exorcist last night!
ReplyDeleteWe did too - last night LOL
DeleteWell done! I want to go back and reread the first Esken's mystery before I start in on all his others. Like you, I read (or am reading) a couple of Stephen King books for this challenge. He is such a great storyteller! Ann Cleeves is another author I'd like to try. Too bad about Peter Heller's. I'd still like to read Celine, which is one of his that I missed when it first came out.
ReplyDeleteUgh. There is NO way I could ever watch The Exorcist a second time. I read the book and watch the movie many, many years ago and it terrified me. That and The Amityville Horror and The Shining put me off scary movies for life!
I was surprised at how I forgot the beginning but, then it has been almost 50 years!
DeleteCongrats on completing your list! Many good ones on it. I look forward to Stolen Hours. The Exorcist is a classic movie in many ways ... but man did it scare me! I used to go by those steps in Georgetown (DC) and I always remembered that movie !
ReplyDeleteI do love Esken's writing; Stolen Hours is a really good one.
DeleteGood job, Diane! It's been decades since I watched The Exorcist... will try to remember it next RIP season.
ReplyDeleteI meant to watch Rosemary's Baby but never got to it - next year. I also love Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
DeleteI agree that Billy Summers was very good.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy S. King, someday I'm going to reread his oldies.
DeleteI laughed about your re-watching The Exorcist. Nope, never again. I would watch some others, but honestly, I'd be happier watching Hocus Pocus and hearing Bette Midler sing. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you did well with RIP. I want to read The Last House at some point and I have The Heron's Cry checked out from the library right now.
I forget whether you listen to audios Kay but, Last House on audio was nice and atmospheric.
DeleteI won't be rewatching The Exorcist either, in fact I'm not sure I actually got to the end...
ReplyDeleteYou did well with RIP! I really should've signed up too as I read 7 books that would've qualified during Sept. and Oct.
LOL - I hear you. I'm good with Exorcist - twice in a lifetime is plenty LOL
DeleteI haven't done this challenge in years, but reading everyone's wrap-up posts is making me want to join up next year. Glad you found some good books!
ReplyDeleteI've been participating about 10 years. I always enjoy it and did better this year than ever before.
DeleteDiane you had a great R.I.P. reading time! The Exorcist has to be the scariest film ever. I've only watched once and never again.
ReplyDeleteThe Exorcist and I have now parted ways - twice in a lifetime is more than enough LOL
DeleteI'm looking forward to that Ann Cleeves as I liked the first book, dark though it was.
