4 - The Disappeared; M.R. Hall
The Disappered; M.R. Hall
Jenny Cooper is a coroner for the Severn Dale District of Bristol in England. She receives a call from a frantic mother to investigate the disappearance of two young Muslim students, who "disappeared" seven years earlier in 2002. The police suspect that the boys left England after being recruited by a Islamic terrorist organization, however, the mother does not believe this is what happened. Since (7) years has passed, the law states that they boys can be declared legally dead. The final declaration is left up to a coroner, and in this case it's Jenny Cooper.
As Jenny's begins her independent investigation to find out what really happened, it becomes clear that political corruption and cover up are involved. She meets with resistance at every corner of her investigation. While Jenny is effective as a coroner, her messy personal life is another story, and at times she is pushed to her breaking point. A rebellious teenager, and Jenny's chronic anxiety disorder caused me considerable irritation, and took away from the mystery, as did typos and other editing problems within this book. What could have been a good mystery turned out to be somewhat disappointing. ( 3/5 stars )

Sorry this wasn't as good as it could have been. I love the question mark made out of books!
ReplyDeleteOh well. Not every one can be a winner.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't sound like my type of book at all. I am sorry you had problems with it.
