Sunday Salon

It is fall right? It is hard to tell as the last few days have been 80+ degree days here in New England. Today all that has changed as the temp has dropped about 10 degrees, so that means time to ramp up the fall wardrobe.  My summer flowers are very confused by the weather, but I am enjoying them, as the frost will soon put an end to all the pretty blossoms.

I read (3) books this past week (all good too), and reviews have been posted for (2) of them: Ape House and We Have Always Lived in a Castle.  I still need to work on a review for The Sun Also Rises; Hemingway, which I really liked a lot.  My current read is: House at Riverton; Kate Morton (audio and print editions). Hoping to start Carol Casselea's Healer this week as well, as I loved her last book Oxygen -- have you read that one?

But for today, it's all about fall shopping.....

shoes, sneakers, sweaters and pants are on my must get list. My SIL and I are headed out to the Outlet Malls, while the hub enjoys a peaceful afternoon of football.

I doubt I will get much reading done today, but one never knows, I could come home with a burst of energy.  Speaking of energy, I do have more lately as this exercise awareness has helped. My new pedometer has me between 8,000-10,000 steps most days, so for me that is good.  I also lost about 5 lbs. so far.

What's on your agenda for today? Whatever it is enjoy!

  8. Your books sound good, Diane...I'm going to check out those reviews.

I love your fall photo! Fall is my favorite time of the year, and especially on the East Coast. I spent one long-ago weekend in Boston during October. It was fabulous!

    Enjoy your day!

  9. Cooler temps have arrived in the Midwest as well. I probably won't go on a shopping spree, but I do anticipate moving the sweaters from the back of the closet to the front :)

I hope you found lots of bargains today!

  11. Ooh, I want to know what you think of House of Riverton.

As for the weather - it's supposed to be 100 today where I am. Yikes! One last blast of the dying summer.

We are out of the house, almost, but when I return I want to read your thoughts on Ape House.

  13. Reading your post made me realize that "The Sun Also Rises" is the only Hemingway I ever got around to reading, despite the fact that my partner bought me a whole set of them in college. Hmm. I may have to rectify that oversight soon.

  20. My pedometer is a small GPS that I use. It measures miles instead of steps!

Happy Sunday, Diane! I'm hoping I can squeeze in a bit of reading myself today (or tonight!). :)

  21. So great on the walking and weight loss. Shop for me would you? I hate shopping!! It's about 60 degrees here in Michigan right now...I would give anything not to be running the heater!

  26. I went Fall shopping too today! But I didn't buy too much - hoping to go back next week. I have been wondering if it is Fall yet - it's been so hot! The rains today have been welcome though.

  27. I have to be in the mood to shop; otherwise, eww, hate it. I like the having new clothes part, but not the actual shopping I need to hire a personal shopper.

Loved Oxygen. So did my sister and my mom. Hadn't heard about Healer. I'll have to keep a lookout for that.

No Sunday Salon for me, but I just started a book today called Kicked, Bitten and Scratched: Life and Lessons at the World's Premier School for Exotic Animal Trainers

    Quite a title, huh?

  28. I have started so many that I am confused which one to read now LOL!

I am glad you are getting your reviews posted too :)

It was raining here last night, so I am thinking it will be cool here :)

I want to start a fitness thing too! I just hate doing it alone!

  32. Good for you on the weight lost and all that exercise you're doing. Keep up the great work!

I love that flower photo. It is fall already???

  33. We've been having the same weather here - like the middle of summer & then a huge drop in temp. Today is cool but very humid because it's raining all day. I love shopping for new clothes etc. at the beginning of a new season. I hope you had fun & found some nice things. The pictures on your blog are so pretty!

I'm looking forward to your review of Kate Morton's book. I always look at hers when I'm in the book store (or it seems that way) but I've not read her books yet.

    How's Rae?!
