Today is the last day of BBAW for 2009. It’s been time consuming but fun. I discovered so many new, exciting blogs in the process. Today’s question is about setting goals! Write in 50 words or less…what do you like best about your blog right now and where would you like your blog to be a year from now?
For me, I am happy enough with my blog (actually I am afraid to change it, for fear of losing everything). I do want to figure out how to arrange multiple photos better using "blogger"; this aspect of blogging stresses me out. I am not sure if it's me, blogger, or Windows Vista, but I waste so much time, and my posts with photos still end up looking screwy.
One thing I want to get better with is remembering and acknowledging someone who has reviewed, or recommended a book that I ended up adding to my lists, or enjoying immensely. (I've been terrible about that...sorry). How do you all keep track??
Lastly, I just wanted to say thanks to all my regular followers, and the many new bloggers I've recently discovered. (For example: check out Amy's Blog - Life By Candle Light).

I've had a great time this week because of you. Wishing you all continued fun; remember: "It's all about the books" !!!!
I *has* been fun! Good luck with the photos. I just rarely use more than one so I don't have to mess around with it. :-)

Thanks for the shoutout, Diane!!! I think you are so right in saying that we should thank others for recommending or bringing to our attention a great book. What better gift is there?!!!

It has been a fun week! Thanks for all of your visits and comments on my blog....it is truly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
I have a cute notebook where I jot down titles and where I read about them. It's handy!
ReplyDeleteIt seems most of us are happy with our blogs. We indeed have come a long way.
ReplyDeleteBBAW: Do I drop from the sky or touch it?
I belong to Goodreads and there is a section on there when you add a book to your shelves where you can fill in all kinds of misc. info such as whether or not you own a copy and how you discovered it. I always go in there and add the name or blog address of where I discovered the book's title from so that when I go back to rate and review I remember who to thank (or not!).
ReplyDeleteWhen you mention your photo issues, do you mean getting them to arrange side by side, etc.? That really needs to be done on the HTML view by playing around with the script. If you e-mail me what you are trying to do I may be able to send you some instructions.
I agree that Blogger is less than simple for posting pictures. I have the same problem! Actually, it's not just Blogger. I have the same problem over at Word Press. I have six blogs on each. Yeah, call me crazy!
ReplyDeleteJotting things down in notebooks...that's the ticket.
The BUmbles advise is a good one, to keep track of which blog you heard it from.
ReplyDeleteHow I keep track? I don't do it consciously but when a blogger writes about something that leaves an impression, I just tend to remember (and associate them with that book). :D
Blogger is a pain in the butt when it comes to photos. I always have to upload the last one first, otherwise it's a pain to drag and position them where I want them to be.
ReplyDeleteI was going to post about this topic but got distracted by Friday Finds. I am pretty happy with my blog but I would love a custom header and a more user friendly template. I hope to take it off of blogger in the near future as it's such a pain to work with.
I have the same problem with blogger and pictures. I probably should just put my resident computer geeks on the task!
ReplyDeleteI do what Ti does with photos, but do wish for an easier way to arrange them. I need to keep better track of acknowledging where I read a review too.
ReplyDeleteIt has been fun.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'm not good at keeping track, but you're right, I should try harder.
I struggle with photo placement in wordpress too. It has been a fun week.
ReplyDeleteI think Blogger will improve the whole photo thing as time goes on. At least I hope so. I also struggle with getting things to look right. You may remember the list I posted on my blog: What I love--and hate--about being a book blogger.
ReplyDeleteYou have a terrific blog, Diane!
Happy last day of BBAW to all!
I have that same problem - keeping track of bloggers! There are so many of us! And I feel bad too, because I don't want anyone to think I'm snubbing them.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty happy with my blog too. My first anniversary is tomorrow and I feel like I've accomplished quite a lot. The only thing I need to improve is to quit changing my background so often.
You've done a great job with your blog! This has been a fun week.
ReplyDeletePhotos can be a pain in the patootie, regardless of what platform you're using. I usually just center them all...it makes for a long post, but at least they behave that way.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog just the way it is too!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I do agree with you - your blog works really well, so why argue with success?
ReplyDeleteAs far as crediting other bloggers who have already reviewed books you are reviewing: I'm working on creating a system for that right now. I'm using a program called evernote to keep track of where I discovered books I plan to read. It's a great way of organizing my TBR list and keeping track of what I'm seeing/reading where.
My thoughts were similar to The Bumbles, but I use the "private comments" field on LibraryThing. I've only just started it to hold recommendations (and who recommended, who I've lent a book too, etc.). I'm hoping I can keep it a habit and lose the scraps of paper that litter my desk top.
