24 Hour Read-a-Thon - Mid-Event Survey

Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now?  I'm listening to an audio book Sworn to Silence; Linda Castillo (very good) and reading Haunted Island: True Ghost Stories from Martha's Vineyard; Nadler.
2. How many books have you read so far? (4)

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? The Haunting of Hill House; Shirley Jackson

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? Tried to but had to step out for an hour.

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Not too bad since it is only me and my husband, and he's been intensely involved with College football.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? Lots of encouragement--it's great!

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? This is my first year, so to me it seems great as is.

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? Plan to listen to more audio books as, for me it's pretty easy to blog and listen.

9. Are you getting tired yet?  Not yet

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?  I think the fact I have not had any junk food today is a help.  I chose to eat lighter so I would not get tired as easily, and it seems to be working so far.

  1. Great tip on not eating any junk food. I went a little crazy with the Crispers earlier today, and have had to banish the bag back to the kitchen.

Can you believe we're past the half way point? It's gone by so fast! I hope you're still having fun - enjoy your remaining books :)

  20. I haven't had too much junk food this time around...I think we did well planning larger meals throughout the day with veggies, etc.

Congrats on making it this part and reading so many books. I just finished my second book.

  22. I wish I would have thought of no or more healthy snacks. I am sluggish.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm glad you're enjoying the readathon as much as I am. I never eat junk food, and I've been snacking on brussel sprouts (one of my favorite fall foods!) I'm eating lots of veggies, drinking hot tea, and I've been blessed with great books so far. It's a success!

Your strategy is the total opposite of mine. I have nothing but junk food for the read-a-thon!

    Have fun!

  32. Congratulations on doing such a great job! It's my first time too, and while it's not what I expected (mainly that little old ME would be the biggest distraction) I am loving every minute of this. And I agree, I'm going to have more audiobooks planned for next time. It seems to be so much easier and I can listen and blog at the same time without problems, like you.

    Keep on reading!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. You've chosen great books!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm about to dive into Sworn to Silence, too!! I think it'll be an engrossing read for later this evening.

This is my first time too, and I am so impressed by all the hard work of the organizers, and, like you, by the level of encouragement!

  40. The Haunting of Hill House is great read. Also, I like the idea of a having a couple audiobooks on hand too!

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's a great idea about the audio book - because I've spent about 2/5 of my time blogging and commenting and what not - so that's a really great idea.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  43. The junk food has been very very good to me, but to each their own. Glad you're having a good time!

It *is* fun how much support there is! It's so much fun to come back from time spent reading to lots of great comments. It definitely helps even more than I'd expected!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good for you! If having no junk food is good, I am doomed!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I agree with you about the junk food. Just not good to eat and then sit all day!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I just got Sworn to Silence through Paperback swap. I can't wait to start it!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Having fun yet? It seems the trick is healthy food. At least, that's the common theme on everyone's list. Way to hang in there! Over halfway through - keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  49. The book of Martha's Vineyard Ghost Stories sounds interesting. I look forward to the review.

I am sure the Haunting of Hill House will help keep you awake during the last hours of the read-athon.
