I purchased Anita Brookner's "Leaving Home about six weeks ago-hope to get it read by year end-will be curious to see how you like your new Brookner-I have also read "Starting Life" and enjoyed it a lot-
No books in the mail this week for me. This is probably a good thing! I just finished The Seance - LOVED IT. I think it was better than The Ghost Writer, though I did enjoy Ghost Writer. I think the author just got better at telling his story by the time he got to The Seance.
Hi, Diane. I saw your comment about my novel over at Cindy's blog. If I may be so bold, it is good! Not as pretty as your blog, however. Anyway if you do get your hands on it, let me know your thoughts.
I LOVE Anita Brookner. Fraud is the most beautiful novel. She has a distinctive view of the world. Enjoy!
I've heard great things about Anita Desai, but sadly the only book of hers I read (The Zigzay Way) didn't work for me :( I'm willing to try her again, though, so I look forward to your review of Fasting, Feasting.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and double thanks for any comments. If you ask a question in your comments, I will try to reply to it here, or by email if your settings allow me to do so. Thanks again for visiting.
Ooo! I love it when new books arrive in the mail! I hope you enjoy your new ones, Diane!

ReplyDeleteThey all look good! It'll be hard to decide which one to read first.
ReplyDeleteI missed this challenge -- looks great!! Congrats on finishing.
ReplyDeleteARGHHHH ignore my last comment. Firefox is acting up and I was having trouble commenting on someone else's post and ended up writing here by mistake.

These sound fascinating! I only got one, but it, too, is a good one!
